What do I need to know about key voting dates?

Key voting dates:

  • Advance voting (Civic Square): Oct 5–9 (10 AM–6 PM)
  • Advance voting (Seaway Mall / Library): Oct 17–25 (10 AM–5 PM)
  • Election day: Mon, Oct 26 (10 AM–8 PM) — Vote at ANY of the 8 open polling locations in Welland!

What are the absolute must-know details about voting?

Information for Voters

  • ID requirements: Photo ID is not required. You just need 1 document showing your name and Welland address (driver’s licence, utility bill, lease, or bank statement). Digital e-statements shown on your phone are accepted!
  • Ward: Check out here to find what Ward you reside in: https://www.welland.ca/city-hall/mayor-and-council/ward-map/
  • Where to vote: Welland uses open polling. On Election Day, cast your ballot at any of the 8 polling locations across the city—you aren't restricted to one specific station.
  • Not registered?: Don't worry if you didn't get a voter card in the mail. You can register in person right at the polling station before voting.
  • Who qualifies: Renters and tenants have full voting rights. Non-residents who own or rent business/residential property in Welland (or their spouses) can also vote.
  • Your ballot: Every voter selects 1 Mayor, 2 Ward Councillors (for their updated 2026 ward), and 1 School Board Trustee.
